What Are The Next Trends In Pop Star Apparel Going To Be?
It’s so much easier to predict the past than the future! In the fickle world of entertainment, that’s even more true than it is in the serious world of politics and economics.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a time machine that could take us into the future. We could all be experts in stocks and come back and make a fortune. It’s too bad the masters of Wall Street couldn’t do that. Then we might not be in the financial mess we’re in now. It’s kind of hard to believe their predictions now, after their past performances!
Our economic stability is something of critical importance to our future and so trying to predict future economic trends is very important. What the next fashion trend to come out of the music industry isn’t very important at all, so there’s even less chance that anybody will work that one out. The fact that leather brown boots are uncool now doesn’t mean they won’t become the coolest thing around tomorrow.
When the Beatles took America by storm, no young man in his right mind was wearing his hair long. But no sooner did their first album hit the shelves than it was suddenly the coolest style and everyone was growing his hair.
Let’s say a new pop superstar named Jean Skinny arrives on the scene. Jean has an androgynous style of clothing. She wears men’s clothing and combs her hair like a man. It’s all subtly and carefully done, though, so she doesn’t look masculine.
Another thing that makes Jean stand out is the black sport watch she always wears. When she is performing, she always takes off her jacket and rolls up her sleeves. Her men’s watch is very prominent on her tiny wrist. It looks so stunning on her that before you know it every teenage girl in America is wearing a man’s watch just like hers.
While everything else about her costume has been carefully designed and chosen by top costume designers, her watch was not. It belonged to her Dad, who died suddenly just before he was able to see her reach stardom. She only wears it in homage to him.
Jean wasn’t trying to start a fad with that watch. She didn’t even like to talk about it because it was so personal. She just wore it. While nobody took up wearing men’s clothing in an attempt to be like their idol, millions started wearing her watch. Fashion is as unpredictable as that.
