How do I make a wire ring with a cabochon?
I have several small oval cabochons (natural howlite). My sister and mom love Howlite but only like to wear rings. I’d like to make wire-wrapped rings using the cabochons (just one per ring), but can’t seem to find any tutorials for this online. I’d rather not experiment TOO much as the wire I have is sterling silver and kinda expensive. 
Anyone have any advice?
I’m familiar with wire rings in general; I’ve made them using beads before, but never cabochons. I’m not sure how to secure the stones within the wire and then hook that onto the ring loop. Thanks!
About.com has a couple of excellent tutorials, including one that makes shows how to make a ring and another on how to make a necklace that sound like what you want. Most teachers will recommend that you use less expensive wire to learn with, because mistakes can be very costly otherwise. I’d recommend getting some less expensive wire (it won’t go to waste if you continue learning) and visit the jewelry making section at about.com.
