all over the place religion-wise (christianity wicca), any insight?
s0o, i have been involved in many, many religions. The one that rang the most truth with me was wicca, but now i’ve been brought back to my old religion when i was a child, Christianity. My question is this, I believe in a lot of what wicca has to say/offer, but also i believe in the bible. These two tings conflict…a LOT. Lately I’ve just been trying to find some answers.
What some people suggest about the two is that there are some areas that are similar, like some think that the trinity is kind of like how the god and goddess work – Jesus would be the god, while the holy spirit would be the goddess (as the holy spirit is personified as a female in the bible) and god would be the polarity or the ultimate power (which depending on what branch of wicca you follow that whats going on, god—-POLARITY—-goddess = one whole major power of sorts (once again i suppose this depends on you branch and beliefs on wicca)

Actually there is a lot of common ground, right back there at the origins of Judaism and Christianity … talking about pre-Mosaic religion and gnostic varieties of Christianity. Wisdom in the old testament is really the Goddess in disguise. The book of Wisdom in Catholic Bibles is most interesting from this point of view, and Proverbs of course. The Song of Songs is basically a love duet between God and Goddess. The whole Asherah complex in the Pentateuch quite clearly shows how Goddess worship was persecuted to make way for unbridled patriarchy. You can certainly make a case for the Holy Spirit being the Goddess in disguise, not to mention the Blessed Virgin.
I don’t think it makes a whole lot of sense to argue about who is really in charge. Polarity is partnership, but the female is the creative principle, the male is the fertilising principle. The female gives birth and is therefore at the origin of all life.
I think you would get some interesting insights from Jonathan Black’s “A secret history of the world”.
