How To Brighten Up Your Windows For Christmas
You know it’s time for you to do some redecorating work but you still can’t make up your mind. Why not change it up this holiday season and turn your windows into the central point of your exhibit? You can decorate windows in an infinite number of ways. Here are some useful tips to get you started.
Glass Art:
Using window film is an excellent way to rejuvenate your windows. You can obtain this film online or you can visit the nearest home improvement retail store. Go for those in green and red for a more traditional Christmas look, or white and turquoise to create a winter wonderland theme. If you want holiday-specific designs, pay a visit to craft stores. Whatever type of decorative window film you choose, you do not need to worry about the price as these films are sure to suit your budget.
You can have a DIY fun project with your family making ornaments with frosted window film. Trace Christmas season patterns such as candy cane, snowflake, or star forms on a cardboard and cut them out using stencils or cookie cutters.
You can now use the forms as guide to cut out figures of the film. Be careful in using the sharp instruments and remember to use a cutting board or mat. This is to ensure not to damage your table or any other surfaces. Or you might choose to cut the window peel into strips and place these on all sides of the pane, or the top and bottom edges.
Another creative alternative is to do art on the film itself. Jazz it up via tube paint or rubber stamps. Add photos and other printed images.Besides design flexibility, window peel is mostly preferable because it can be installed and removed easily without ruining the surface.
Drape and Dangle:
Windowsills are perfect for hanging decorations. Lights and wreaths are standard by tradition. Or use ribbons in holiday colors and designs for diversity.Wreaths and bunches of foliage studded with berries and pinecones are sure to draw attention as well. Combining creativity and usefulness is very practical. One way is to hang the stockings on the sill instead of by the fireplace mantel. If the sill is wide enough, think about placing snow globes there.
Box Appeal:
As window boxes stay bleak for the winter season, they, too, can be used to adorn windows. You can overlay them with artificial evergreen garlands or stuff them with pinecones and some toys. Smaller Christmas trees are also outstanding accent pieces, or any big ornament for that matter. Just ensure that those you put in the box are suitable for outside use. Otherwise, they might degenerate under rough weather.
This season, you can make your windows become warm and inviting with simple treatments. All it takes is a little creativity, vision, and initiative and a short trip to a nearby crafts store (or even your own supply storeroom at home) for materials. It is also a suitable crafts project and bonding chance, particularly when your household is stuck inside due to heavy snow. So you will not only get to stand out in your neighborhood but also share valuable time with your loved ones.
