Did any one buy gold jewellery from ethiopia airport duty free shop?
I was surprised to see that for me it was quite cheap.The 9 gram pendant(18 carat) was 55 USD.I think it is very cheap.Correct me if I am wrong considering it cheap.But I think it is cheap.my other question is if some one bought gold jewellery from there,was it original?And the gold was really 18 carat?Because I heard generally 18 carat jewellery is even slightly expensice than 22 carat.
If it is genuine it is dirt cheap! 9 grammes of 18kt is worth about $201 and that’s not accounting for design and manufacture and value as a pendant. Is it hallmarked? You sure it is not gold plated?
Or my figures are wrong: 9 grammes is 9/31.1 ozs and 18kt is 18/24 x 9/31.1
Gold is around 950US$ an ounce, so work it out.
22kt is obviously more valuable than 18kt. because it is 22/24 gold against 18/24 gold.
22kt jewellery will be more easily damaged so a man’s ring is usually 18kt.
