Modern Day Pearl Necklaces
Pearl necklaces have always been a fashion “do” in our book, but today the style of how they’re being worn, the color of the pearls and the settings are being update to reflect a more modern, yet still very chic, sense of style.
When you thing of pearl necklaces, you probably conjure up images of your grandmother’s classic single strand pearl necklace, or a proper accessory to a stuffy covered-up look. However, thanks to stylistas like Michelle Obama, pearls are back in a big way, and they are far from boring.
Pearl necklaces are being worn in a much more versatile way, easily making the transition from office to after-hours, and even being paired with jeans. They can be dressed up or toned down, and they always add a little something special to the outfit with which they are paired.
Layering is a big trend right now, and with pearl necklaces, it’s no different. Try on a few pearl necklaces of varying length for an update on a classic. Add in rhinestone charms or floral brooches for a unique style statement. Or, add a long pearl necklace to a mix of chain link necklaces and pendants. No matter how you wear them, have fun, and remember that you make the rules. No longer are pearls dictated by style standards that are uptight and stodgy. Now, it’s all about having fun with their classic and posh accessory.
Consider thinking outside the box. Try different pearl colors than those which you are accustomed. For warm weather, colored pearls in mints, rose hues and silver are beautiful adornments. For something a little more edgy, don’t be afraid to rock black pearls and rhinestones to dress-up tailored jeans and a simple tank top.
Try incorporating pearls of different sizes for a fun take on this favorite. Gumball size pearls look great on necklaces –both long and short. Add a matching statement cocktail ring and a killer pair of heels and you’re ready to go.
