My wife has worn an empty locket for 8 years to remember Emily, who lived a few hours before dying in mum’s arms. In the past six months, she has separated from me, and found a new boyfirend. Also, our youngest child snagged her locket chain, and broke it.
Yesterday, she was sporting a new necklace. It is half of a medallion that she is sharing with her new boyfriend. I am absolutely thrilled that she has taken the step to wear a necklace other than the locket.
When we were married, I bought her a pair of ruby earrings that had a matching necklace. I gave her the earrings, but never bought her any necklaces. I figured I could buy the necklaces after she made the decision to wear something besides the locket. There is also a necklace to match rings I have bought her, and a bracelet, and etc.
Now I want to go back to the jeweler and buy the necklaces that complete the sets that I meant for her to have years ago. I don’t though, want to ‘celebrate’ Emilys passing…suggestions?
I doubt that if you buy those necklaces that you’ll be celebrating little Emily’s passing. We do need to celebrate living though. I’m glad that she took this step, instead of getting the locket fixed. It doesn’t mean that she doesn’t still hurt, just that she’s starting to see that there’s no reason for her not to be as happy as she can be.
