What is about the right price to pay for real Pearls for jewellery making?
I’ve started making jewellery for people for christmas and have been looking at pearls all over the place. I have found out how you tell whether they are fake or not, but I can only buy online as there is nowhere that sells anything like that less than an hours train ride from me. I have found some on ebay which claim to be freshwater pearls which are 99p, which seems ridiculously cheap so I wont even bother buying them, but I dont know whats an approximate price to pay? prices are different everywhere, but I want to ensure I buy real pearls at a low to medium price, not fake pearls at a real pearl price…

I have used freshwater pearls, also sometimes called rice pearls, in a lot of pieces I have made. They came out looking very nice. I used those in a lot of dangle earrings. I made a watch band out of rice pearls and ruby peads that came out very nice. The rice pearls are a lot cheaper. They are irregular in shape.
I have also bought some pearls from Fire Mountain Gems.

For fine quality pearls, I have bought those from various suppliers, and I don’t recall who I dealt with on the better ones. Been a while since I did anything with fine pearls.
