Women’s Gifts: Bracelets Are Normally Suitable

The past of the bracelet is cloaked in mystery. No one is aware just when and where bracelets stemmed from, but as long ago as the ancient Egyptians, women as well as men wore highly elaborate bracelets made of gold and adorned with precious and semiprecious gemstones. Other materials that were used in Egypt as well as throughout the primitive world consisted of bronze, copper, wood, stone, bone and plant fibres. The pharaohs and emperors of old civilizations favoured bracelets that were very detailed, and it’s believed that the charm bracelet was born at least 3000 to 4000 years ago. In the Byzantine empire, which controlled Europe and portions of the near East along with the Mediterranean region from about the fifth to fifteenth centuries, people preferred a flamboyant bracelet style that introduced highly interlaced links. The bracelets were usually created from silver or gold.

Woman Gift -Chinese Bracelets

Further to the east, the Chinese conceived elaborate gold bracelets adorned with jade starting from around 2000 BC. Chinese bracelets of this period were highly detailed with images of animals, real and fictional, such as dragons and phoenixes. The pearl bracelet also originates in ancient China due to the fact that quality pearls were abundant there. From olden times to recent times, China has continued to be the pearl and jade popularity centre. The Chinese also pioneered the use of glass in bracelets. India, meanwhile, became a leader in bangle bracelets. Indian bangle bracelets are very colourful and feature extraordinary bead work crafted from metal or glass. In India, women sport bracelets to indicate their marital status.

Bracelets in the 1700s and 1800s

Chain bracelets emerged in the 18th century, with Paris becoming the centre of jewellery trends. Gold was the preferred material and opaque jewels such as coral were popular. The custom of wearing lots of bracelets on one wrist came about at this time. There also was a renaissance of intricate Byzantine styles. Also making an appearance was jewellery crafted from either fine gold or silver mesh. In the 19th century, the Victorian impact led to gems designed with sentimental value. Lockets as well as personalised jewellery were quite popular.

-Current Day Bracelets

Modern bracelets are often adorned with top-quality Swarovski crystals. Swarovski is a top-rate supplier of precision-cut lead crystal located in Austria. Whilst bracelets created from gold and silver are most often preferred, less expensive bracelets are at times plated rhodium, a silvery-white metal linked to platinum. Another well-known stone for bracelets is the pearl. Genuine pearls are considered very expensive, so artificial pearls are usually a wise choice. The best faux pearls originate from Majorca, Spain, where the details of their creation are a tightly held secret. Faux pearls are dipped in finish coats to bestow upon them high gloss and lustre. Bracelets that join faux pearls with crystals are especially attractive, especially if the crystals are painted with the “aurora borealis” (AB) coating that allows them to flash with rainbow colours.

Woman Gift -A bracelet is almost always a welcome gift for a woman. Whether casual or “glam”, most women possess a wardrobe of bracelets proper for any number of occasions.
