What To Consider When Buying A Leather Wallet

Thinking about buying yourself a new wallet or perhaps want to buy one for the one you love? Here are some things to consider when buying a new leather wallet.

There are a number of different things that you can consider when purchasing a new wallet, all of which can add to it’s overall value. If you want to buy the best wallet possible, then you’ll want to pay close attention to all of these items and make sure you are shopping for convenience and not necessarily for the best price.

Quality of the leather.

The first trait of a good wallet is going to be the material it is made out of. Since you are shopping for a leather item, you’ll want to look for the product that is made out of high quality leather and not cheap imitation leather.

Finding out weather or not the leather material is truly authentic can be tough at times, but for the most part you can tell it is real simply by looking at it and also by the smell that it gives off. A true leather material has a unique smell that simply cannot be matched by any other material not matter how hard they try.

Style or wallet type.

Next, think about what type of wallet you want to purchase. There are many different styles available to choose from, so if you want to avoid spending hours browsing through the thousands of different types, have some idea in mind of what you want.

The two more popular styles are the tri-fold and accordion style wallets, so you can start with those two. You might also be interested in purchasing a money clip type wallet which has the appearance of a normal wallet, but with a money clip attached to the back of it.

Another popular style is the wallet with a chain attached to it which can be securely fastened to your clothing or anything that you are carrying with you.

Size.

The size of the wallet that you purchase is going to depend on the style that you choose. Sizes can vary for most styles, but for the most part you will find that the tri-fold type is rough 3 inches by 4 inches, and can have a thickness of about 1 inch. This of course can vary based on how much stuff you manage to cram into it.

Accordion style wallets also come in a variety of sizes. Two of the most common sizes that you will find are 6 inch and 8 inch.

Pockets or ID holders.

Finally, you’ll want to look for added features such as multiple pockets and ID slots or holders. These items can make the leather wallet you are purchasing much more convenient for whoever the recipient of this wonderful gift is.
