NYC is the most exciting place in the US but it’s not all about going to concerts, trendy bars, and dance clubs. It’s also about the amazing things you can see and learn about at the many museums in New York.
What follows are 5 of the most popular museums in New York. You can visit all 5 of them with the New York Pass (which is also good for other things such as the NYC Food Tour.) It’s a good idea to purchase a pass while making your online NYC hotel reservations because it can save you plenty of money and time.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art. “The Met” is the most frequently visited museum in the US with about five million visitors each year. The Met has a wide variety of different exhibits from ancient Egyptian art to modern art by Pablo Picasso. It is an enormous museum; it is way too large to see it all on just one visit.
The American Museum of Natural History has a collection so huge that only small part of it can be displayed despite the very large size of the museum (it’s one of the the largest museums in the world.) Kids tend to enjoy this museum more than those focused on art. The dinosaur fossils are particularly fascinating to me.
The Museum of Modern Art. MoMA is the most influential museum in the modern art world. Among the thousands of works of art at this museum are important works by Henri Rousseau, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Henri Matisse, Jasper Johns and Francis Bacon.
Madame Tussauds. NYC is one of just 15 cities in the world with a Madame Tussauds. At Madade Tussauds you get a close look at lifelike wax sculptures of famous people from the present and the past. They are always adding new sculptures of the latest popular stars, they even have one of the Jonas Brothers.
The Guggenheim Museum is one of the most well known buildings in the world because of its unusual appearance. It holds a collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, Modern, and contemporary art.
Another city with amazing museums is Paris, France. Hotels in Paris France is highly recommended if you take a trip to Paris.
