Can I dye my hair dark red brown over red highlights?

Recently, I’ve gotten bleached highlights with red dyed over them. I do not like them. I’ve waited a week to see if I should dye it or not. I’ve chosen the color “Dark Mahogany Brown” which is basically dark red brown. My natural hair color is dark brown. Will anything funky happen to my hair or will it be fine? Details, please. I don’t want to mess up my hair before I go to school.
