Safari Trip By Jeep To Abu Galum And Blue Hole Snorkeling from Sharm Marina
Characterized by its spectacular granite mountains ending abruptly on a narrow coastal plain fronted by rich coral reefs. Abu Galum owes its Protected status to its varied ecosystems, unique back reef communities and excellent coral reefs.
Recent surveys have identified 167 species of desert plants, many of which are not found in either Ras Mohammed or Nabq. As a result, Abu Galum also contains the largest number of Nubian Ibex, Hyrax, Red Fox, Striped Hyena and evidence of other mammalian species. Ten species of lizards and snakes have been identified from the Protectorate. Three of these, namely the Black Cobra, the Horned Viper, and Burton’s Carpet Viper are very dangerous and visitors to the area should proceed with caution and avoid sandy areas with vegetation.
The Abu Galum Protectorate is managed to ensure that its natural resources are safeguarded from all destructive activities. As a result, diving sites and shore access points are being prepared, nature trails through mountain areas have been identified, the area is being kept clean, Bedouin fishing activities are regulated, and a visitor center is under construction.
Take a jeep safari from Sharm El Sheikh port to Abu Galoum protectorate, snorkel the Blue Hole, ride a camel and go bargain shopping in Dahab on a day trip from Sharm el Sheikh port. If your time in Egypt is limited, this is the day tour you are looking for! You’ll travel across the desert, snorkel the Red Sea and visit a typical Bedouin village. Start your day with a two-hour jeep safari from Sharm el Sheikh port. Along the way, keep your eyes open for the local wildlife, including Nubian ibex, red foxes and striped hyenas. Then it’s time to snorkel the reef gardens of the Blue Hole, arguably Egypt most famous dive spot. You will have around 45 minutes of snorkeling time. Then dry off with a camel ride through the Egyptian desert before enjoying a traditional Bedouin lunch. The camel ride lasts for approximately 45 minutes. In the afternoon, you’ll travel to the Bedouin village of Dahab for some shopping. Here you will find a large selection of souvenirs such as papyrus prints, brass lamps, jewelry, perfumes, leathers and inlaid boxes, all at prices generally cheaper than in Sharm el Sheikh. You will have 45 minutes to an hour to search out some bargains before driving back to Sharm El Sheikh port.
