Something about rotary thermometer?
A rotary thermometer consists of a spiral bimetallic strip which is made of steel and brass joined together.
(brass outter while steel inner)
What will happen then the two metals are interchanged?
In normal operation the spiral configuration of the bi-metallic strip, the different expansion rates of the two metals produces a ‘Clockwise’ rotation of the Needle by a tightening of the spiral (brass expands more than steel), indicating a temperature increase.
Switched over, the spiral will loosen up and the needle will move anti-clockwise indicating a temperature drop.
