Begay Turquoise
2011

Why is Cerrillos Turquoise so unpopular to collectors?
I have collected several nice cabochons of Cerrillos Turquoise. High quality, high dome, green color with brown matrices. I had them put in three bracelets by Etta Endito, Darry Begay, and another famous Navajo Artisan. I could not sell them anywhere. Not at shows, on EBAY, or consigned with the biggest dealers in the southwest. What is it that makes this turquoise so unpopular?
I think it might simply be that there is a lot of turquoise jewelry available from Mexico, so it is relatively easy to get. I don’t think it really has anything to do with your particular pieces.
