Baht Chain in Thailand?
I’m going to Thailand in January and heard of a Baht Chain (a 24 karat gold chain. Expensive in the states). I was wondering if anyone has bought one in Thailand, how much do they run and how do you find a reputable place to buy one.
Gold is sold by the Baht (weight) which is about 1/2 oz weight. Thai gold is 96.5% pure gold or 23 karats. The price is determined by the price of gold at the time you buy it. As of today one baht of gold is 15,250 baht. The best place to buy gold in my opinion is in Chinatown on Yaowarat Road. You can’t miss the gold shops they have large red signs and gold Chinese letters. Look for a shop that looks like it been in business for a long time.
