The Internet Opens Doors to Ancient Mysteries from King Tut to Stonehenge

Gone are the days of reading fusty journals in the library for every research project. The internet has opened a whole new world of reference, commentary and content that is very reliable. It’s amazing that in 15 years the landscape of reference has really changed dramatically. Now, all you need is an internet connection to have a wealth of knowledge, from King Tut to Stonehenge, at your finger tips.

Web sites like Google and Wikipedia are great sites for beginning your research, but they aren’t always from reliable sources, so it’s best to use sites that go straight to the sources and use experts, like museum sites or reference ones like Heritage Key. Be sure to always double check where your information is coming from because just as information is very easily accessible, it’s very easy for anyone to pretend to be an expert on any given subject.

Check out sites like Heritage Key if you want to be sure your information is coming from qualified experts. It gives amazing virtual representations of ancient cultures and civilizations. Seeing the real-life artefacts encased in glass at a museum is always an experience in itself, but this site also includes interactive and virtual content, so you can see the big picture. The overall online experience superbly compliments anything the British Museum can offer up.

Take King Tut for example. You can find a wealth of information on him after just a few minutes of research. The National Geographic Society seems to consider him a hot topic and they are forever chronicling the latest developments in the mysteries surrounding his life and death. There are so many interesting facts about ancient cultures that are just waiting to be explored. There are several videos from experts on other ancient Egyptian things of interests, historian’s takes on the mysteries of Stonehenge and you can even subscribe with your iPod or iPhone for exciting takes and reports on archaeological finds. It’s really astonishing how technology has made thousands and thousands of years of history and culture so instantly available at our finger tips.
