Chinese Mummification?
I know that the Egyptians did the process of mummification, but i was wondering because i know i have heard of China having mummies, but do the Ancient Chinese actually have mummies? And if they do, what is their process of preparing and preserving? I know the Egyptians mummified bodies with natron, oils, and bittimin. Priests wrapped the body in linen and added amulets and jewelry for protection against evil spirits. No special clothing was worn by the dead. What was the Chinese method?
The Chinese mummies I know of were ethnically Indo-Europeans living in the western provinces, the Tocharian people. I think they were just sand mummified. Although they were dressed in good clothes with grave gifts, and some effort had been taken to stop the eyes and nostrils collapsing in by plugging them with cloth.
